Philanthropic Studies (Graduate Certificate)

The Graduate Certificate in Philanthropic Studies was designed for those who need to know the critical issues and values of philanthropic practices but have not yet decided to pursue a master's or doctoral degree in the field.

As a student in the program, you complete 12 hours of graduate credit. Required courses include:

Nonprofit and Voluntary Sector
Ethics and Values in Philanthropy (or) PHST-P530: Ethics and Values in Philanthropy
Principles and Practices of Fundraising

In addition, you choose one elective from the following courses:

Civil Society and Philanthropy
Cross Cultural Dimensions of Philanthropy
Law of Nonprofit Organizations
Nonprofit Economy and Public Policy (or) PHST-P530: Nonprofit Economy and Public Policy
History of Philanthropy
Religion and Philanthropy
Courses taken for the philanthropic studies certificate can also be counted toward other degrees. All 12 credits can transfer to the MA or PhD in Philanthropic Studies.
