Health Information Administration, BS

The BS in Health Information Administration is for those interested in becoming a registered health information administrator (RHIA), a career that combines medicine, information management, computer technology, finance, and law within the healthcare industry.

RHIAs manage a variety of health information management functions, including managing electronic health records, managing clinical workflow, improving the quality and uses of data, protecting the privacy and security of patient health information, and analyzing information for reimbursement and research.

As a student in the BS in Health Information Administration, you complete 120 hours of undergraduate credit.

To become credentialed as an RHIA, students in the BS in Health Information Administration program must successfully complete all degree requirements and pass the RHIA certification examination, which is administered by the national American Health Information Management Association.

The BS in Health Information Administration is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics and Information Management Education (CAHIIM).
