Aging is a process marked by both physical and psychosocial changes. The Certificate in Gerontology program examines this process, and looks at both health and disability among the elderly.
As a student in the program, you complete 18 credit hours of course work, studying topics such as nutrition and exercise, aging and the older person, programs for older adults, and the psychosocial aspects of aging. You participate in a service-learning experience in an agency on aging or in a long-term care facility.
Upon successful completion of the certificate, you will have the information you need for employment in adult healthcare facilities.
