People are the principal resource in any organization. The skill with which an organization develops, allocates, and supervises its human resources governs its success or failure. The US Bureau of Labor Statistics anticipates human resource development-related job growth to be above 20 percent between 2010 and 2020. 

The Graduate Certificate in Human Resource Development (HRD) provides you with strong preparation in the foundations of HRD. As a student in the program, you explore a blend of current HRD theories with applied practice in leadership and in human resource development for today's workplace.

Certificate Requirements 

To earn the Graduate Certificate in Human Resource Development, you must complete 12 credit hours.

Requirements are broken down as follows: 

  • HRD core courses (9 credit hours) 
  • HRD elective course (3 credit hours) 

NOTE: If you choose to pursue the MS in Technology with a concentration in organizational leadership from IU Online, these certificate courses may apply toward your degree requirements. Completion of the certificate program does not guarantee admission to the graduate program.
