What makes an accelerated degree “accelerated”?

Accelerated master’s degrees allow IU undergraduates to take graduate courses early, during their final undergraduate year. After completing their bachelor’s requirements, students go on to complete the remaining master’s degree requirements as graduate students, allowing students to complete both degrees in five years when attending full-time.

Do accelerated master’s degree requirements differ from the normal degree requirements?

No, the AMP master’s degree requirements are the same as those for the standalone master’s degree, with the only difference being students can begin courses earlier.

Can courses be used toward both degrees at the same time?

Yes, the master’s courses approved for early enrollment can count toward fulfilling requirements for both degrees simultaneously.

Can I use undergraduate financial aid toward AMP degrees?

Undergraduate federal financial aid, such as the Federal Pell Grant and Federal Direct Subsidized Loan, can typically be used as long as the student’s primary degree program is still the undergraduate degree and the graduate courses taken fulfill undergraduate degree requirements. Once the student’s primary degree program is the graduate degree, the student no longer qualifies for undergraduate federal financial aid. When a student meets the requirements for graduation from the undergraduate program, the student is no longer eligible for financial aid at the undergraduate level. Students are encouraged to speak with their financial aid representative prior to registration to confirm their eligibility.

When are degrees conferred?

Students should apply for their bachelor’s degree in consultation with their undergraduate advisor once all undergraduate requirements have been completed. The bachelor’s degree must be awarded before students transition to graduate status and complete the remaining coursework for the M.S. in Management. Upon fulfilling all graduate requirements, students should then apply for conferral of their master’s degree.

When should I apply for the Accelerated Master’s Program?

Students should speak with their advisor and complete the AMP application once they attain 75 undergraduate credit hours.

Do I need to apply to the M.S. Management program?

Yes, students should submit their application for the M.S. Management at the same time they submit their undergraduate application for graduation.

When do I transition to the M.S. Management program?

Once students complete their undergraduate degree requirements and their bachelor’s degree is conferred, they will transition to graduate student classification in the M.S. Management program.
