Entrepreneurship is the process of developing, launching, and managing a new business venture. The Master of Science in Entrepreneurship and Innovation opens you to opportunities to start your own new business venture, expand corporate innovation within your current company, or both.

The IU Online MS in Entrepreneurship and Innovation immerses you in the theories and processes involved in the entrepreneurial mindset. You learn how to introduce new venture concepts, prepare and present business plans to stakeholders or investors, network with entrepreneurs and innovators in Silicon Valley, and even advise a startup or small business in an emerging market through study abroad or a virtual consulting project. You also learn to apply appropriate entrepreneurial frameworks to filter opportunities worthy of investment.

Dual Degree Option

While earning your MS in Entrepreneurship and Innovation, you can opt to add an MBA. With our dual degree option, you can add general management to your skill portfolio in just 66 credit hours versus the 84 credit hours required if the two degrees are earned separately.

Degree Requirements

To graduate with the MS in Entrepreneurship and Innovation, you must complete 30 credit hours in entrepreneurship and innovation core courses. All students in the MS in Entrepreneurship and Innovation program will participate in two action-packed in-residence courses.


To be accepted to this program, you must have:
  1. A bachelor's degree

NOTE: This program is authorized, exempt, or not subject to state regulatory compliance and may enroll students from all 50 states
To apply to this program:
  • Complete the Kelley Direct Program Application Form.
  • Look for an invitation to interview.
  • Complete the Indiana University Graduate School Application Form, which includes a personal statement (500 words or less), resume, and three recommenders. 
  • Submit GMAT or GRE scores.
  • Send official transcripts.
  • Submit TOEFL or IELTS scores (international students only).

    Silicon Valley Venture Challenge ("The Spine Sweat Experience") connects you to the culture, opportunity and entrepreneurial ecosystem of the tech industry, and gives you an option to pitch your own venture concept to veteran VCs and investors.

    Venture Evolution and Ecosystems will center on the Innovation Showcase in Indianapolis, IN. This signature event brings together entrepreneurs, investors, and other members of the venture community for education, networking, and pitching ideas. Understanding the key components of a venture ecosystem and engaging in your own community is an important step in developing your entrepreneurial acumen and raising your innovation IQ. This class will not only provide an intense and educational experience with the event, but allow participants to then map their own venture ecosystems to better engage and network for future success.
