Finance, MS

Master of Science

The Master of Science in Finance focuses on transactions between businesses and consumers and between businesses and other businesses.

As a student in the program, you complete 30 credit hours of course work, including an intense orientation week on the Bloomington campus.

You gain the technical expertise you need to measure and manage the risks and returns of an organization's financial policies, as well as an understanding of the ways an organization can use these policies to achieve its strategic goals.

The program offers you the option of adding an M.B.A. for a dual degree that you can complete in less time than it would take to pursue the M.S. and M.B.A. independently.

When you graduate from the program, you will:

  • view finance as an integral business function.
  • know how to use financial resources efficiently.
  • be able to evaluate the various opportunities for creating value in an organization.
  • know which financial instruments an organization can use to manage risk and uncertainty.
  • better appreciate how capital markets value financial securities.
