You acquire a fundamental understanding of secure biomedical data management, data quality, and data exchange. You also develop an advanced level of proficiency with respect to coding, classification, and medical terminologies.

As a student in the program, you explore such topics as health information exchange, security and privacy policies and regulations for healthcare, business of health informatics, foundations of health informatics, and health informatics standards and terminology. You also complete a mentored practicum, which provides the opportunity to synthesize the coursework and demonstrate competency in the role of an Electronic Health Record (EHR) implementation analyst.
