Literacy, Culture, and Language Education, M.S.Ed.

Master of Science in Education

The M.S.Ed. in Literacy, Culture, and Language Education prepares individuals to teach and do research in the areas of English education, foreign and second language education, and literacy/reading education.

As a student in the program, you complete 36 credit hours of course work. You may transfer up to nine credit hours from other institutions if the course work fits into your overall goals and the program structure.

The curriculum is designed to help you understand language and literacy processes in cultural contexts, integrate formal and informal assessment with instruction, and apply research findings to practice and internship opportunities. Course work involves experiences with children, high school and college youth, and adults. In addition, you have plenty of opportunities to apply current technology to teaching and learning.

Graduates from this program typically assume positions as teachers, language education specialists, reading specialists, writers, and editors of instructional materials.
