Music therapy is the use of music interventions to promote wellness, manage stress, alleviate pain, express feelings, enhance memory, improve communication, or promote physical rehabilitation.
The IU Online Master of Science in Music Therapy provides professional board-certified music therapists with advanced research skills and clinical practice in music therapy. The music therapy courses focus on research methods, theory and philosophy as they relate to research, and evidence-based clinical practice. Students are also able to focus on music technology courses to learn principles of production using music technology, music applications for composition, improvisation, and adapted performances.
As a student in the program, you learn advanced research skills, enhancing your critical analysis and integration of current research findings into clinical practice. You also learn how to integrate the vast array of music technology tools into clinical practice.
