Technical communication is the process of gathering scientific, mechanical, chemical, legal, economic, medical, procedural, or other specialized information and presenting it to a targeted audience in a clear, useful, accurate, comprehensive, grammatically correct, and easily understandable form.

The IU Online Undergraduate Certificate in Technical Communication explores topics in general technical communication, visual technical communication, editing, applications of technical communication, and career development. You learn to gather and transform technical knowledge for a variety of audiences as you design, develop, and edit effective, usable publications using sound communication principles and current technology. As a student in the program, you acquire the knowledge, skills, and professional practices needed to become an entry-level technical communicator.

  • Career Planning OR Portfolio Preparation (1 credit hour)
