The IU Online Graduate Certificate in Data Journalism includes coursework from the Media School and the Luddy School of Informatics, Computing, and Engineering. You’ll learn how to analyze data to tell compelling, comprehensive stories, boost your writing and visual communications skills, and prepare to enter newsrooms and other creative spaces.
To be accepted to this program, you must have:
- A bachelor’s degree
- Minimum 3.0 GPA over the last two years of an undergraduate program
To apply to this program, complete an online application that includes:
- CV or resume
- Statement of professional goals
- Writing sample or portfolio
- A letter of recommendation

Your Graduate Certificate in Data Journalism gives you a foundation for such careers as:

To earn the Graduate Certificate in Data Journalism, you must complete 12 credit hours. You work with faculty to select your courses.
This certificate can be applied toward a data journalism concentration in the media school’s Master of Science in Media.
