Our onboarding process for undergraduate and graduate students sets you up for success from day one. You can complete our online onboarding modules before the first day of class to learn about:
- Getting your student ID and setting up your email.
- Securing financial aid and managing your finances.
- Registering for classes, buying your textbooks, and accessing your coursework in the Canvas learning management system.
- Establishing good time management, study, and test-taking skills.
- Graduating and planning your career.
The modules are not only great for getting started; they serve as a valuable resource throughout your experience with IU Online.
Success Coaching and Academic Advising
IU Online students receive one-on-one support to help them reach their personal and academic goals. Undergraduate and graduate students are assigned an academic advisor, and undergraduate students enjoy the added benefit of a personal success coach.
Your academic advisor determines how previously earned credits apply to your IU program requirements and helps you create schedules, enroll in classes, and stay on track to graduate.
The undergraduate success coaches are more like personal cheerleaders. They’re here to help you navigate the university system and serve as your point of contact to your home campus. You can contact your success coach at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Math and Writing Support
Undergraduate students enjoy free, direct access to IU-trained math mentors and writing consultants, 24/7.
The Online Math Center is here to help with math questions for courses up to Calculus I. Additionally, math mentors are available to help you prepare for quizzes and exams and to share study tips and strategies.
The Online Writing Center helps you brainstorm ideas, write a rough draft, review grammar and punctuation, and revise a final draft—all via online consultations.
Our commitment to you doesn’t end with academics. The IU Online Career Services office will help you plan your career during your time at IU and after you graduate. You can take advantage of our interactive online tools and your own career coach.
Your career coach can help you with:
- Setting career goals
- Exploring majors
- Searching for internships
- Refining resumes and cover letters
- Practicing for career fairs and job interviews
- Compiling portfolios and other materials
- Preparing for graduate school
