Degree overview

This top-ranked, fast-paced, and 100% online degree will help you master actuarial sciences. This 30-credit hour degree will prepare you for the four major exams. You can also add an additional course (3 credits) to be fully prepared for all five exams listed below:

  • Fundamentals of Actuarial Mathematics (FAM): MATH-A 605 and MATH-A 606
  • Statistics for Risk Modeling (SRM): MATH-A 600 and MATH-A 601  
  • Advanced Long-Term Actuarial Mathematics (ALTAM): MATH-A 610  
  • Advanced Short-Term Actuarial Mathematics: (ASTAM) MATH-A 611  
  • Predictive Analytics (PA): MATH-A 600 and MATH-A 601

To apply to this program, you must:

  • Hold a bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science or have passed the Society of Actuaries (SOA) exams P (Probability) and FM (Financial Mathematics). (Applicants who graduated from an IU campus are not required to submit a transcript)
  • Have earned a minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
  • Submit a 250-word personal statement (optional) outlining interest in the program.
    • This statement may be used to provide additional context about your background and goals and can help the admissions committee better understand your fit for the program. You may wish to:
      • Discuss your career goals and how they align with the program
      • Highlight relevant work or life experience
      • Address any academic or professional challenges you have overcome
