Degree Overview
The IU Online Master of Arts for Teachers in German allows you to expand awareness of current methods in German language instruction. Deepen your cultural expertise and enhance German proficiency through advanced graduate coursework.
Upon graduation, you’ll have the skills and knowledge necessary to effectively teach German language and culture in a variety of educational settings.
You’ll graduate with an Indiana University degree respected by employers worldwide—and you can work on yours anytime and anywhere.

If applying directly to the M.A.T., you must:
- 20 hours in German coursework at the bachelor's level, or have completed at least two courses from the Graduate Certificate in German with a B or higher
- A bachelor's degree
- A minimum 3.0/4.0 GPA
To apply to this program, complete an online application that includes:
- Transcripts
- Personal statement (250 words)

Your IU Online Master of Arts for Teachers in German prepares you for such careers as:

To earn the M.A.T. in German, you must complete 30 credit hours.
