Graduate Certificate
The IU Online Graduate Certificate in Sexual and Reproductive Health provides comprehensive training in the prevention, promotion, and management of sexual and reproductive health topics. This program will provide public health practitioners, educators, researchers and others who work on the front lines of public health with the advanced skills and knowledge to support their work and to improve the status of the sexual and reproductive health in their communities and beyond. Students work with internationally renowned IU faculty members and AASECT Certified Sexuality Educators to explore research in sexual and reproductive health, create and evaluate curricula, review the epidemiology of sexual health, and build skills for seeking external funding. This curriculum is in alignment with the American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors, and Therapist (AASECT) content knowledge areas.
As a student in the program, you synthesize and critically examine scientific research related to sexual and reproductive health. You assess the various sexuality education curricula, resources, and programs based on a range of individual and community characteristics, including visible and invisible diversities. You develop a sexuality education course syllabus with developmentally appropriate instructional methods aligned with national teacher preparation standards, policies, and laws that reflect the diversity of the community.
In addition, you study and critique the major systems of sexual and reproductive health surveillance and their respective methodologies. You summarize the legal and ethical foundations of sexual and reproductive health surveillance. You review practical and theoretical concepts required for developing sexual and reproductive health research trajectories for program proposals for extramural funding. You identify technical aspects related to applying for and managing extramural funds for sexual and reproductive health and practice activities, from a diverse range of funding sources.

Certificate Requirements
To earn the Graduate Certificate in Sexual and Reproductive Health, you must complete 15 credit hours in sexual and reproductive health core courses.
