Master of Science

The Chancellors' Master of Science in Strategic Finance offers instruction in accounting and finance concepts and principles. It prepares you to tackle problems with advanced problem-solving and critical-thinking skills. 

Interpret and respond to financial data and scenarios. Develop ethical strategies to address issues faced by finance professionals. Learn to apply and integrate financial concepts and analytical tools. 

Tailor your degree to your professional interests by choosing one of three tracks:

  • Investments  
  • Accounting  
  • Managerial finance  

This program may be a good fit if you are:

  • A recent college graduate seeking an advanced degree in finance
  • An adult learner with a bachelor’s degree and professional experience 

Note: Students wanting to pursue a CPA may count the 30 credits they earn in this program toward completion of the 150-hour CPA requirement. 

This 100 percent online program is taught by IU East, IU Kokomo, IU Northwest, IU South Bend, and IU Southeast. 

Degree Requirements 

To graduate with the Chancellors’ Master of Science in Strategic Finance, you must complete a minimum of 30 credit hours. Requirements are broken down as follows:

  • Core courses (24 credits)
  • Track courses (6 credits) 

A total of 6 credits is required for foundational coursework.

Admissions

To be accepted to this program, you must have:
  • A bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution
  • Minimum 3.0 undergrad GPA 
  • Three professional references
  • Foundational coursework in accounting (6 credit hours), finance (3 credit hours), quantitative methods (3 credit hours) and economics (6 credit hours)

    NOTE: if you have not completed the above foundational coursework listed above contact IU Online regarding the opportunity to meet this admission requirement by completing the foundational coursework as a non-degree seeking online student in as little as one semester.
