If you've already been accepted to the Advance College Project (ACP) at IU, this certificate can help you go further in your career. Having the ability to teach dual-credit courses can enhance your credentials, giving you more expertise in the field and opening doors to more leadership opportunities.

To be accepted to this program, you must:

  • Already have a B.A. with a major or minor in art history, or a major in an allied discipline and at least two years of experience teaching art history
  • Be first accepted to the ACP program.
  • Apply to IU Online. Please include:
    • CV
    • Personal statement
    • List of undergraduate/graduate courses taken in the discipline
    • Transcripts
    • Lesson materials providing evidence of pedagogy in the discipline

Once you earn your certificate, you will be able to teach the dual-credit course ARTH-H 100 Introduction to Art History and Visual Culture.

To earn the Teachers in Art History Graduate Certificate, you must complete the required 18 credit hours.
